Senators slay the Kawartha Krocs

Sep 15, 2012 - Saturday 15th September, 2012, TERP

The Senators played their return match at home against the Kawartha Krocs earlier today. After having drawn the away game 2 tries each on a scorching day down in Peterborough earlier in the season, the Ottawa guys were keen to set the record straight.

The Senators' back-line ran riot in the first half, making the most of well-won ball by the forwards, with run-ins by Colin Currie (twice), Nathan Harris, Troy Messam, Dave Connell and Jim O'Connell-Smith. It would have been more if it had not been for a spectacular balls-up between Troy and Dave close to the line, for which Dave was awarded the "Shirt of Shame" by stand-in Captain Warren Clifford.

The Senators seemed to step off the gas in the second half, and the Krocs forced their way back into the game with some fine running, scrummaging, rucking and mauling, being rewarded with 3 tries. In reply, Troy Messam scored another fine try for the Senators and also made an outstanding try-saving ankle tap - he was awarded the Man-of-the-Match by the Krocs for his performance today - well done Troy! (apart from the balls-up with Dave).

So, the final score: 7 tries to 3, another well-deserved victory for the Senators!

Next game (Over 45s only): Sunday 23rd September @ 1:30 p.m. vs Barrhaven Scottish (Away, South Nepean Park) - come out and support the guys - see you there...!
