Aug 23, 2010 - That is what we did when we headed to the renewed Platinim Oldies in Peterborough on August 14. Senators took part in the East/West Classic Rugby matches when we combined with Peterborough, Kingston and Belleville to take on the best that the GTA and Southwestern Ontario could muster. In the first match it was the over 60's clash with the likes of Peter Maitland, Gerry Lanigan, Frank Berry, Dave Bird, Bill Erickson, Lindsay Mckenna, Tom Grant, Dave Mullington and others who strapped on the boots to get the festivities under way. Most of them said a little prayer before hitting the pitch and hoping that the legs, hands and eyes would not fail. It was a fine display of champagne rugby with all getting into the action. It was great for the spectators as it looked like the whole game took place in slow motion. It was easy to follow the missed tackles, poor passes and errant kicks as some of the skills looked a bit rusty after a long layoff for some. Of course that would not have been any Senators. Afterwards both sides claimed victory as there are no losers in over 60's rugby.
