Aug 6, 2010 - Yes it was a great long weekend in Saranac at the Can-Am Rugby Tournament as the Senators took the over 50 division with a hard fought 8-0 victory over the previous years Champions Blackthorn from Pennsylvania. Many thanks to those who were there. All the games were close as we defeated Mystic River 10-0 on the Friday morning game then had a late game kick from Tim Holland of the Krocs to secure our 11-10 victory over the Virginai Cardinals. In the final game on Sunday Matt Finestry from Kingston put a try over off a quick line out and our defence was outstanding as we held them scoreless. Tim Holland added the insurance penalty kick to put us clear at 8-0. As usual Perky went down with an injury as he broke an ankle in the final game, while earlier on on Friday team Captain Dermot Nally had a sprained knee in the Virginia game. The final was played before a crowd of over six hundred and then they got to watch the other Ottawa based team the Myths and Legends with a number of Senators on board easily handle the White Plains team 55-0. It was a great weekend.
