Leafs Set For Clarenville
Feb 2, 2012 - On the eve of the first ever year end Newfoundland Midget AAA Showcase Tournament, the St. John's AAA Maple Leafs participated in their first practice since taking a lengthy break due to high school exams.
Set to take part in three games over three days, the Leafs welcome back 2nd year '96 Nathan Yetman to the lineup as he returns from the Youth Olympic Winter Games, in which he and Team Canada took home a bronze medal.
The Leafs will be without the services of 1994's Thomas Murphy and Andrew Matheson as both are sidelined with upper body injuries. Murphy is making good progress back to the lineup as he skated for the first time today since being dealt the injury. 3rd year goaltender Matheson is still sidelined and undergoing doctor's examinations.
The Blue and White's first game is Friday at 3:30 against the Central IcePak. Game 2 is against the Pennecon Privateers on Saturday at 9 a.m, while their third and final game is at 8 a.m. on Sunday morning against the Western Kings.
Stay tuned for updates!
